Metadata Loss After One Hour of Streaming to laut.fm

Dear Support Team,

I am experiencing an issue with RadioBOSS when streaming to laut.fm: the metadata stops updating after about one hour of streaming. This only happens with scheduled events that last longer than one hour.

I have already tried both options in the Metadata settings—Periodic Title Update and Track Start—but the problem persists. Additionally, I have checked the box Send event name instead of track titles to the server, and while this works correctly, the metadata still stops updating after one hour.

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

Thank you in advance for your support!

Dear Support Team,

Thank you for your response. However, I believe there is a misunderstanding. My issue is not that the metadata doesn’t update when the text remains the same. The problem is that the event title stops being sent after one hour of streaming, even though I have enabled the option Send event name instead of track titles to the server.

I want the event title to be maintained throughout the entire scheduled event, but after one hour, it disappears, leaving no metadata at all.

Could you please help me resolve this?

Thank you again for your support.

In this case, for all items in the event, the title will be the same (event name) and because of that it's only being sent once, after the event is started.

Does your server clear the metadata after one hour? Usually, after a title is sent, it's supposed to stay until another title is sent. Looks like a server issue.

Dear Support Team,

Thank you for your response. I understand that the event title is only sent once at the beginning because all items in the event share the same title. However, the issue is that after one hour, the metadata disappears completely, leaving no title at all.

I will check with laut.fm to confirm if their server clears metadata after one hour. However, if this were the case, shouldn’t RadioBOSS resend the title periodically to ensure it remains visible? Is there any setting or workaround in RadioBOSS that allows resending the metadata periodically even when the title remains unchanged?

As an alternative solution, would it be possible to use a .cue file to keep the metadata active for the entire duration of the scheduled event? For example, if I have a scheduled event with an MP3 file named show.mp3, I could place a .cue file in the same directory with the following structure:

REM GENRE Podcast
REM DATE 2024
PERFORMER "Radio Show"
TITLE "My Program Name"
FILE "show.mp3" MP3
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "My Program Name"
PERFORMER "Radio Show"
INDEX 01 00:00:00

Would this method work to ensure that the event name remains visible for the entire program duration? If so, how should it be implemented in RadioBOSS?

Thank you again for your assistance!

Looks like the server does it. The server is supposed to keep the last metadata that was sent to it, without time limit.

It shouldn't, as it's the server responsibility to store the metadata.

It will be the same, if you have the same title for the entire show, it will only be sent once. I think you should fix the server, it certainly must not remove metadata after one hour. There are many shows that last longer than that.

Dear Support Team,

Thank you for your response. I understand that the server is supposed to retain the metadata sent to it without a time limit and that RadioBOSS only sends the title once when it remains the same for the entire event.

I will contact laut.fm to investigate if the issue is on their side and why the metadata disappears after one hour. However, I would like to ask if you could consider adding an option in a future update that allows RadioBOSS to resend metadata periodically, even if the title doesn’t change. This could be helpful in situations like this, where the server fails to retain the metadata properly.

Thank you again for your support and assistance.

Looks like this problem only exists with laut.fm servers, and it's their bug - they should have it fixed. We have loads of bugs in our own software to work on :)
