It would be nice to have a permission to be able to generate playlists from playlist generator pro (which everyone can do) and separately stop people from editing the playlist configuration items.

In our case we try to lock it down as much as we can but sometimes people alter the playlist generator config and it requires someone else to fix it up later. If the config could be read only (editing tracks / positions etc.) but items like 'generate' and 'export' are allowed by everyone, then this would help.

I know there's an ability to disable it completely at the moment but we do need manual playlist generation at times so that doesn't work for us.

You can disable the playlist generator, and create a scheduled event that will create the playlist. Users can run this event to create the playlist without opening the playlist generator.

Thanks - in our case that won't work as we disable the run capability too.

I'm not sure how the proposed permission will work. Not giving them permission to edit a playlist, while allowing to use the playlist generator - meaning they can effectively edit (indirectly) the playlist. E.g. they can clear it by creating an empty playlist in the generator and replacing the playlist window contents with nothing.
