Save RadioBoss settings :)

Hi!
Is there a possibility all settings and configurations (e.G. schedule, encoders, settings,...) to save?

Once I install RadioBoss new, only this backup save back, and everything is pre-configured  :)

THANKS!

Hi Lucas

Yes, that's possible. All settings are stored in one folder by default.
Click Settings->Open Settings Folder to open it. You can backup that folder contents somewhere.

Soon RadioBOSS will have a feature to backup/restore all settings to/from a single file.

Hi Dmitry!

If i make an Update, all settings (Playlists, Schedules,...) are gone :(
Was at least of 4.7.3.4 => 4.8.0.13 and  from 4.8.0.13 => 4.8.1.0 so.
Will not there always readjust everything :(

So if i backup the Folder what you say and i Backup all Files and Folders there (DATABASE, LOG, PLAYLIST, adscheduler, system,....) can I just copy thes Files and Folders back in the new version and overwrite the existing?
Are the Data compatible from old and new RadioBoss version?

THANKS :)

Have you tried under Settings -> Save Profile and also Save Profile As...?  You might make an extra copy of your profile and save it somewhere under a different folder so you can recall it with Load Profile later.  Hope this might help as I have had to do this before.

Newer version of RadioBOSS reads settings from any previous version.

How did you install the update? If you install it to the same folder all the settings, scheduler, music libraries etc will be preserved. This is true if you're installing newer version on top of older one.

Settings will be reset when you install older version on top of a newer one... But even in this case you'll have your scheduled tasks, playlists and music library preserved (playback devices, encoders and other settings will be lost).

Profile doesn't contain all the settings. If you want to do a complete backup, click Settings->Open Settings folder and copy folder contenst somewhere.

Integrated update just checks for new version availability, but you still download and install it manually.

Are you sure you installed it to the same folder as previous version?

Hi!
Is there a special update version to download?
I downloaded only the TRIAL and installed over it in the same folder where the old version was.
Greetings  :)

You downloaded the correct version, and it should've been picked up the settings.
Please click Settings->Open settings folder - Windows Explorer window will open, go up one level above (to the "djsoft.net" folder) and see what folders are there.

That's how it should be. I don't know why it doesn't keep settings after you update it. If you reinstall the same version, will it reset the settings?

Hi!
Have made a backup from the Folder "RadioBOSS_166840025".
Have installed Windows new and installed RadioBoss 4.8.1.0.
Than i copy back my backup to the "RadioBOSS_166840025" folder.
Looks good, Schedules, Playlists, Cartwall, Encoders,... are working :)

But now i see in the status window always the message (have made a screenshot)
"Can not save report to: C:\RadioBoss_Reporte2\2013-01-30.csv"
and the report will not be save.
In the settings i have selected the right folder.
Have also created a new folder and renamed this, but it is also the same, the report will not be saved :(

Greetings :)

Are you sure that folder (C:\RadioBoss_Reporte2\) exists and RadioBOSS has rights to write to that folder?
A quick test here revealed no error.

Yes, and the file is also created, and i have seen it writes only no tracks?

If i open the file 2013-01-30.csv i can see:
17:43:00;scheduler;"Schedule: RFW Jingles*1";"C:\Jingles\Jingles*1"
17:54:00;scheduler;"Schedule: RFW Jingles*1";"C:\Jingles\Jingles*1"
18:00:00;scheduler;"Schedule: RadioBoss_Zeitansage";saytime=C:\RadioBoss_Zeitansage
18:00:00;;"(Time Announcement)";saytime=C:\RadioBoss_Zeitansage
18:05:00;scheduler;"Schedule: RFW Jingles*1";"C:\Jingles\Jingles*1"
18:16:00;scheduler;"Schedule: RFW Jingles*1";"C:\Jingles\Jingles*1"
etc...
But, strangely, no songs?

That's really odd. I would understand if the file is not created at all, but like this... I don't know. Does it work if you use the default report folder?

If i install windows 7 on the computer.
Can i also copy back all files from the backup folder, or does this only work from XP to XP?
So Windows 7 have other paths?

Settings are compatible between Windows system. The only condition you should have the same locale setting on both systems, otherwise time/date for scheduled events can be erased.

Can I use the backup folder transferred to another computer?

I think the problem is when hardware changes.
I install new Windows XP, configurate RadioBoss and Backup the "Settings" folder.

Installed windows XP new again and copy back the backup folder, but i change the soundcard.
Now there is the problem with the error message :(
Remove the sound card again and everything works.

Now i copy the backup folder to my second PC with Windows 7.
Exactly the same problem :(

On my XP PC the settings are in the Folder "RadioBOSS_166840025".
If i change the Soundcard, the number is changing to another.
On the Windows 7 PC the number is also an other.
Can this see the problem, so any settings in the files from the backup folder works only if the files are in the folder "RadioBOSS_166840025"?

THANKS!

Yes. Events and playlists along with most of the other settings will be transferred fine.
Probably some paths will need to be adjusted - report folder for example.

It shouldn't be a problem. RadioBOSS 4.9 will have a feature to backup/restore settings.

To backup/restore settings manually:
Backup:
- open RadioBOSS and click Settings->Open Settings folder.
- select all files and folders there (press Ctrl+A) and create an archive using RAR or 7-zip or anything else.
- the archive you created now has all the settings

Restore:
- install RadioBOSS. Click Settings->Open Settings folder
- close RadioBOSS (that's important!)
- copy the archive you created to the settings folder and unpack it (select "Yes" when it asks about replacing existing files)
- open RadioBOSS - now you should have all the settings imported
