Thanks for the suggestions. Yes we already tried the ?dd approach. Also we don’t overwrite files anymore - they are deleted completely a few hours after playback so the new writes are to an empty folder location. We will look at other possible causes then.....

Maybe something's wrong with the deleting. When this happens again, you can try using this utility: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/opened_files_view.html to see what software holds the file. One more thing to try is to change recording format to make it use a different encoder.
