RadioBOSS 7.1 [beta]

If it is the latest version
The log only contains the following errors: [2025-04-16 11:45:32] ERROR: Unable to find track that fits criteria (rule: norepeat-artist). Category: "Media (No Lento, No Triste)" - The same error message also exists for different categories.
Looks like the problem is repeat protection rule and Playlist Generator spends a lot of time in finding (unsuccessfully) a fitting track.

The “Test all blocks” option takes a really long time! At least now it no longer shows any errors.
Is there any way you could speed up that process?
Even though building the block list is faster than in previous versions, it’s still quite slow.

Thank you, all those issues will be addressed in the next update. About numbering beyond 9 - please make the column wider to see 10 and above.

Where do you see disk errors? Are they caused by Playlist Generator?
Every 5 minutes the error "Stats database error: database disk is malforned" appears in the Log. Not sure if it's caused by the Playlist Generator.

Here's what works in version 7.1.1.2 – Ads Scheduler:
  • When the duration of a block is exceeded and also when the number of annonces is exceeded in an ad block, the warning appears as soon as I click "test all blocks." It's fine.
  • All cells selected for an ad annonce are correctly displayed with a number and not a check mark. There were no issues with this in any of the profiles I created before and after the beta.
  • And the check marks are displayed correctly when the ad annonce is disabled or when the dates don't match the current date. In short, everything works at this level.

  • Thank you for your information to adjust the annonce number column!

There's a bug in version 7.1.1.2 – Ads Scheduler:

I get a warning window every time I switch from a profile created before the 7.1 beta to a newly created profile. I've emailed you the bug report.

I get this same alert window every time I create a new profile.
I have to restart the application to access the newly created profile.

FYI:
When I switch from an old profile to another old profile created before the Beta version (in RadioBOSS Advanced), it works.
Or when I switch from a newly created profile to another newly created profile (in RadioBOSS Ultimate), it works fine too.

I'd like to clarify my previous comment about the two alert windows when I tested version 7.1.1.1:
For some unknown reason (and it was my fault), I had added my ads and set the ad block in (default) and not in the new profile I had created.
This caused the multiple issues I reported to you.
After discovering my error during the installation of this beta version 7.1.1.2, I experienced various problems: I received an alert message every time I tried to switch from one profile to another, or when I created a new profile, or when I clicked on a cell... It became unusable.
I wanted to delete (default) as a profile, but it wasn't offered in the list of profiles to delete. Even after deleting all the ads in (default), I still had this problem.
Because, I think, the ad block settings had been used.
I had to reinstall a previous database to get this (default) blank again.
Since I'm testing this beta version on a secondary PC, it has no impact on me to do this kind of manipulation.
However, it can be fatal in normal use and if we don't think about making backups regularly.
If users make the same mistake as me, shouldn't we look at what's happening in this (default)?

It should be faster now, here with couple of hundreds of ads it takes about 1 second.

How much time does it take? Do you have all ads on a local drive or they are on the network?

Looks like the database file is damaged. Do you use SQLite?

Thank you, we'll check this.

The Default profile must always exist and can't be deleted - this is by design.

The recent new bugs are side effects of applying the optimizations to make the ads scheduler faster. Originally those optimizations were planned for later versions - but as speed issues were pointed out here, it was decided to add them to this version, even before they are fully ready. The next update should resolve the issues you have pointed out.

Perhaps it's a problem that there aren't enough tracks in some categories.
"Media" only has 12 songs at the moment, none of them slow(Lento) or sad(Triste). Although there's usually a song with those attributes. So the problem must lie elsewhere.

On a test PC: I7-7700, Windows 10, 32GB RAM, 1TB M.2 disk, and Radioboss demo version:
– 25 seconds to complete block building
– 120 seconds to complete “Test all blocks” → 7 blocks with issues
– 151 ads in total

On the production PC: I5, Windows 10, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and Radioboss registered Advanced Edition:
– 60 seconds to complete block building
– 120 seconds to complete “Test all blocks” → 19 blocks with issues
– 331 ads in total

On another production PC (it's a backup, but it's a VM): Intel I5, Windows Server 2016, 2GB RAM, 512GB SSD:
– 2 seconds to complete block building !!!
– 2 seconds to complete “Test all blocks” !!! → 19 blocks with issues
– 331 ads in total

All Ads are in Local drives.
I'll send you the AdsScheduler.ini file privately.

On that first test PC, I created a VM (Hyper-V) with Windows 10, installed Radioboss, copied the AdsScheduler.ini file with the 331 Ads, and it took just 6 seconds to build the blocks and 10 seconds for the “Test all blocks”!!!

I understand less and less each time!!

I have around 45 ads that run 4-5 times a day. About half of them are marked with a type, and it takes me around 25-30 seconds to Test all blocks. I don't mind, I just wanted to say what's happening on my end.

The presets should be configured in such a way that there are no error messages. Any errors will at least cause slowdown (as it needs to perform a lot of iterations to find a track) and in a worst case it will prevent creating the playlist completely.

No I don't. Would it fix the error?
Please check in Settings, General what option is selected for "Additional information storage". From the error message, it looks like SQLite error.

Yes, this is interesting. So in the last two cases, and in this one in HyperV, it's the same adscheduler.ini file and same RadioBOSS version but different time needed to create ads?
What "additional information storage" those installations use? Ads Scheduler will try to use case, and maybe if main PC uses MySQL on a remote device this can be the culprit. If possible, can you please send the log ads_export_log.txt (see message below for its location).

That's a lot, should be much faster. Do you test it on the latest 7.1.1.2? Can you please send the log? Settings, Open Settings Folder, Log - ads_export_log.txt

The RB version is always the same, 7.1.1.2.
There’s no external storage involved, everything is local. In my setup, all the music and ads databases are replicated across all PCs, so each instance of RB works locally.
SQLite is the database used, located in a local directory.
Only at the moment of exporting ads are they sent to the remote On-Air PC.
I’ve sent the ads_export_log.txt file by email, but in any case, that file is only created during the export process.
I’ve installed RB on other PCs with Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016, using the same AdsScheduler.ini file on all of them, and the results weren’t good. Slow… very slow!

I still have the problem that some of my playlists, which I generate automatically via the scheduler to compile the news, are causing an error. I still assume that this is a bug in version 7.1 Beta — in my case, 7.1.2 Release Candidate. The reason for this assumption is that the playlist creation works without any issues on my second RadioBOSS instance, which is still running version 7.0.8.0.

In connection with the Scheduler, I have noticed several bugs in the beta version, currently 7.1.1.2.

Firstly, there is an error when generating playlists. Situation: I use the Scheduler to generate playlists in which individual news items are compiled into a newscast. The error still occurs, but only with some of the playlists. For example, my news playlist is generated correctly, as is a playlist for a morning segment. However, the playlists for event tips and regional news are not generated, and an error message appears instead.

Secondly, it often happens that individual files scheduled as events do appear in the log — meaning the event is triggered — but the file itself does not appear in the playlist and is therefore not played.

I then set up the entire system exactly as it was, but with version 7.0.8.0, and all of these errors disappeared.

Hi, good morning.
The problem isn’t with the ad export process. The first issue occurs when the window with the different time blocks starts building.
I’m attaching a video that shows this.
The second issue happens when clicking “Test all blocks,” which takes a very long time.

As you can see in the video, there are only 151 ads in total!
